During the climate change from summer to winter, you should adjust your thermostat temperature accordingly. This will help make your indoor environment more pleasant and in turn will help you save a few dollars in the process. Did you know that you can save 10% a year on heating and cooling by setting back your thermostat 7 to 10 degrees for 8 hours a day from its normal setting? This means that if you’re away from home during the day, adjusting it will be ideal for you. If you spend most of your time at home you can set your thermostat to 68 degrees during the day in the winter season. In the summer season the same strategy will apply, the thermostat should be set at 78 degrees. Avoid setting the thermostat at a colder/hotter setting than normal, this will result in excessive cooling/heating, therefore creating unnecessary expense.
